How to Rent a Luxury Car in Dubai Before You Arrive
Most ALKA clients arrange their Dubai rental before they fly. How remote verification, the card deposit hold and door-step delivery work, and how to request availability.

Yes, you can arrange a luxury car rental in Dubai entirely from abroad: send your dates, verify your identity remotely and secure the deposit as a card pre-authorisation, and the car is delivered to your hotel or residence in Dubai at the agreed time. Most ALKA clients book from outside the UAE before they arrive, and because the service is delivery-based there is no walk-in showroom to visit.
This guide explains each step, what to prepare before you fly, and how to request availability while our online catalogue is temporarily offline.
How remote booking works, step by step
The process is designed so that everything except the handover itself happens before you land.
- Send your dates and delivery address to the concierge. Availability is confirmed on request, and the final quote is confirmed at reservation.
- Upload your identity documents for verification. This is done remotely, with no office visit.
- Pay online. The security deposit is held as a pre-authorisation on your card rather than charged.
- Receive the car at the agreed address in Dubai at the agreed time. The handover inspection is documented with photographs and signed by both sides.
Verifying your identity without an office visit
Identity verification (KYC) takes place online before the rental, so you do not need to visit an office on arrival. The documents you upload depend on where your driving licence was issued:
- UAE residents: Emirates ID, UAE driving licence and residence visa.
- Visitors from GCC countries: passport, UAE entry visa and GCC driving licence. No International Driving Permit is needed.
- Visitors from all other countries: passport, UAE entry visa, home-country driving licence and an International Driving Permit.
You will also need a valid payment card in the renter's own name, and the original documents are presented at handover. The minimum driver age is 23; drivers under 23 are accepted only by prior written agreement and for an additional fee, and some vehicle classes require a higher minimum age. Please tell us your licence issue date when you book: if it was issued less than six months before the rental, insurance cover may be reduced. If someone else will share the driving, plan for it now. An additional driver can be added for a fee, but must present the same documents as the main driver and be added to the insurance policy at the start of the rental. A driver cannot be added once the rental has begun.
The deposit: a hold on your card, not a charge
The security deposit is taken as a pre-authorisation hold before handover. The funds stay with your bank and are not transferred to us unless a charge is later made against them. The amount depends on the vehicle class and is shown in your booking confirmation.
The deposit covers RTA fines, tolls, theft and damage that insurance does not cover. After the car is returned and inspected, the hold is released by your bank, normally within 21 days. Door-step delivery and collection
Delivery and collection are complimentary anywhere in Dubai, whether you are staying at a hotel or a residence. Deliveries to other emirates may carry a fee, which the concierge confirms before pickup.
The car arrives with a full tank and should be returned full. At handover, the condition of the car and the odometer reading are recorded, and the report is signed by both sides. A return to a different address in Dubai can be arranged; airport returns carry a minimum drop-off fee that is confirmed before the rental starts.
Terms worth knowing before you land
A few conditions shape how you plan the trip, so it helps to know them in advance:
- Minimum rental period: 2 days.
- Mileage: 250 km per day is included; additional kilometres are billed at the rate in the rental agreement.
- Insurance: collision damage waiver, third-party liability and personal accident cover are included, with 24/7 roadside assistance. Full cover is an optional upgrade.
- Salik road tolls are billed at the actual cost per crossing; traffic fines are passed on at cost with an administrative handling fee, after confirmation with Dubai Police and the RTA.
- UAE VAT of 5% applies and is shown on the invoice.
- Driving is self-drive only; only drivers named on the rental agreement may drive.
- Cross-border travel is not permitted, including into Oman; insurance cover ends at the UAE border.
- Cancellation must reach us at least 24 hours before pickup; where a refund applies, it is processed in 7 to 10 business days.

What to include when you request availability
A complete first message lets the concierge confirm availability and prepare your quote without back and forth. It helps to include your pickup and return dates and times, the delivery address in Dubai, the kind of car you have in mind (a supercar, a luxury SUV or an executive sedan, for example), the country that issued each driver's licence, and whether an additional driver will join the rental.
