Minimum Age to Rent a Supercar or Luxury Car in Dubai

The base minimum age to rent a car with ALKA Rent A Car in Dubai is 23, and it applies to the renter and to every named driver. Some vehicle classes require a higher minimum, and drivers under 23 may be accepted only by prior written agreement and for an additional fee.

This guide explains how the age rule works in practice, what changes if you are under 23 or recently licensed, and the other core terms that come with every rental, so you can plan your time in Dubai without surprises at handover.

The short answer: 23 is the base age

ALKA's base minimum driver age is 23. Under our rental terms, the renter and every driver must be at least 23 years old before handover. The base rule is the same whether you are looking at an executive sedan, a luxury SUV or a supercar. What can change from one vehicle to another is whether a higher minimum applies on top of it.

Age sits alongside the other eligibility checks rather than replacing them. Every driver must also hold a valid licence in the correct category, and the renter must pass identity verification and provide a valid payment card in their own name. Identity verification is done remotely, so there is no office to visit before your car is delivered.

Higher minimum ages for some vehicle classes

Some vehicle classes require a higher minimum age than 23. The age that applies to a specific car is confirmed before you pay and stated in your booking confirmation (it also appears on the vehicle page when the online catalogue is available), so you know where you stand before committing.

Because the higher figure depends on the vehicle class, check it for the exact car you want rather than assuming the base age covers it. If you already have a particular supercar or performance model in mind, mention it when you first contact us with your dates.

Renting under 23

Drivers aged 18 to 23 may be accepted for an additional fee. Acceptance is not automatic: under the rental terms, drivers under 23 are accepted only by prior written agreement, and the additional charge is stated in your booking confirmation. The fee is set per rental and confirmed at reservation, so there is no fixed figure to quote in advance.

If you are under 23, raise it at the start of the conversation rather than assuming it can be settled on the day. A written agreement before you travel means everyone arrives at handover expecting the same thing.

New licences and additional drivers

Age is not the only factor. Tell us the date your licence was issued when you book. If it was issued less than six months before the rental, the insurer applies reduced cover: in an at-fault accident the driver pays the excess plus 10 per cent of the assessed claim, and a Dubai Police report is required in every case. Some vehicle classes are not released to newly licensed drivers at all.

If someone else will share the driving, the same care applies to them:

• Every additional driver must meet the minimum age and present the same documents as the main driver.
• Additional drivers are added to the insurance policy at the start of the rental and cannot be added once it has begun.
• An additional driver is charged at the rate shown in your booking confirmation.
• Only drivers named in the rental agreement may drive. Allowing an unnamed person to drive voids the insurance cover and makes the renter liable for all resulting loss.

Other core terms at a glance

Once the age question is settled, the rest of the rental follows the same confirmed terms for every client:

• Minimum rental period: 2 days, with a rental day counted as 24 hours from handover.
• Mileage: 250 km per day included, calculated over the whole rental; extra kilometres are charged at the rate for the vehicle class.
• Fuel: full to full. The car arrives with a full tank or full charge and should be returned the same way.
• Security deposit: a pre-authorisation hold on your card, not a charge, normally released by your bank within 21 days of return and inspection. Our security deposit guide explains it in detail.
• Borders: the car stays in the UAE. Driving into Oman is not permitted and is not covered by insurance.
• Delivery: complimentary door-step delivery and collection anywhere in Dubai.
